Meet Maggie & sheldon

3.23.19
The day I will marry my best friend.  The one i laugh with, live for, dream with, and love.

Our first date was El Monstero at the Pageant in December 2013. We laugh a lot about our first official date for a few reasons. #1 Maggie had recently told Sheldon how she always found it annoying that all of the boys would spend a Christmas break night at this concert every year. A few days later, Sheldon asked Maggie if she would go to the concert with him. It was Sheldon's second time seeing El Monstero over the holidays in 2013. #2 Sheldon disclosed on the way to the concert that we might run into his parents at the concert. In the end, we ended up sitting with them the entire concert--on our first date! #3 Sheldon's brother, Brock, also attended the concert, but was unable to sit with the family because he wasn't 21. He really took one for the team. #4 Maggie thought she knew three songs going into the concert. In all reality, she only knew "Another Brick in the Wall: Part One, Two, and Three."

All in all, it was a great date. It was amazing to see Sheldon completely in his element at the concert and around his family. He was much less nervous during this first official date, compared to our other "dates."

The first date

The proposal

I had always thought we would most likely get engaged at a baseball related event. In the spring of 2018, we went to a ton of Cardinals games at the beginning of the season. A little part of me wondered if each of those games could have been the "one." We even went out of town to Cincinnati for a Cardinals-Reds weekend. After that weekend, I decided that Sheldon would think a Cardinals game was too obvious and wouldn't offer a surprise. The following weekend Sheldon asked if I wanted to go to yet another Cardinals game on Sunday. I turned him down. I had to work both Saturday and Sunday night that weekend. He said that this would be once in a lifetime--green seat tickets right behind home plate. Again, I suggested that he ask someone else who could better take part in the all inclusive perks. Finally, after much persistence by Sheldon, I agreed to go to the game. I was a bear to wake up after just a few hours of sleep. After we parked at the infamous "Lot B," Sheldon asked me to come over to the other side of the car. When I did, he was holding a ring box and asked me to marry him. It was incredibly surreal and I had never felt better walking into Busch Stadium. Soon after, I called my dad to tell him. They shared that they were on the way to the game, also, and would be sitting with Sheldon's parents a section behind us. It was great to spend such a special day with our parents and later with our friends over dinner and drinks.
